OUR COMMITMENT TO YOUTH
GREAT FUTURES START WITH SAFETY.
Every young person deserves a safe, positive, and inclusive place to belong. At Antelope Valley Boys & Girls Club, protecting the physical and emotional well-being of our members is our highest priority.
A CULTURE OF CARE
Protecting youth, together.

PREPARATTION. TRAINING. ACCOUNTABILITY.
Safety is an everyday commitment.
Safety is everyone’s responsibility. We prepare before Members arrive, keep safety at the forefront of daily operations, and use ongoing training and feedback to improve our practices.
Prepared sites & informed staff
Site preparation includes safety assessments, accessible emergency supplies and first-aid materials, safety kits and binders, updated emergency contacts, and review of evacuation and reunification information. Staff must know where these resources are and how to use them.
Training, drills & continuous improvement
Before independently supervising Members, staff must understand the policies and emergency procedures for their assigned site. Training continues through meetings, coaching, site visits, and drills. Drills, incidents, near misses, and feedback help identify improvements.
Coordination with school partners
When programs operate on school property, the applicable school and district safety procedures take priority. AVBGC policies complement those procedures with expectations for supervision, communication, documentation, incident reporting, and Member protection.
Leadership & shared responsibility
Leaders are responsible for reinforcing safe practices, addressing concerns promptly, ensuring supplies and training are available, and following through on identified needs. Every employee is encouraged to raise safety questions and concerns.
